He said he brought a cashier's check and that school officials told him if he contributed $1,870 the school board would match it, allowing the purchase of 14 picnic benches, four basketball goals and a dozen basketballs. "I'd like for these kids to have this stuff at least by Christmas," Andrews said on the record.
Board members thanked Andrews and other local supporters, and board leadership arranged a photo opportunity with school and jury representatives. Chair remarks and board comments emphasized the donation's benefit to Ross students and thanked Andrews and community members for the gift.
The presentation concluded and the meeting proceeded to action items.
