Commissioners back regional EREP agreement and endorse EDD pursuit to access federal economic-development funds

Steve Raleigh, Warrick County economic development staff, asked commissioners to sign the county's annual agreement with EREP (the four-county regional economic-development partnership) and to adopt a resolution supporting pursuit of an Economic Development District (EDD) designation through the Economic Development Administration. Raleigh said the EDD designation and a completed regional economic strategy (SEDS) would make the region eligible for a broader range of federal infrastructure and public-works grants; he described the board's resolution as a non-binding pledge of support that costs the county nothing.
Commissioners voted to approve the annual agreement (funding already appropriated in the county budget) and to adopt resolution 2026-2 supporting pursuit of the EDD designation. "It doesn't cost the county anything, and it's just a resolution of support," Raleigh said.
What happens next: as a regional partner, Warrick County will take part in EREP-led efforts to complete EDD paperwork and to pursue federal EDA funding on behalf of the four-county region.
