The Bangor City Council adopted Order 26‑091 on Feb. 9 to set the council’s priorities for 2026. Councilor Carson moved the order, which passed 9–0.
The priorities listed in the order are: (1) establish a comprehensive plan to address homelessness, leveraging outside regional and national experts alongside local stakeholders; (2) continue to address housing needs, noting recent and ongoing projects including Teresa's Place, a Sunrise Senior Living project, a recently approved tiny‑home project, and a supportive housing project led by Bangor Housing; and (3) advocate for fairer regional cost sharing and participation from regional institutions that impose costs on Bangor while receiving property‑tax exemptions.
Council discussion was minimal during the vote; the order passed unanimously and will guide council work and committee assignments in the coming year.
