Board lets SBA use Business Resource Center space for flood response; staff cites Sept. 4 EIDL deadline

The board authorized temporary, no-cost use of space at the Business Resource Center (69 N. Chadbourne Street) by the U.S. Small Business Administration disaster team and other emergency-response partners to provide on-site assistance for flood-affected businesses and residents.
Dave Erickson, advisor for the ASU Small Business Development Center, described the SBA disaster team’s work at the BRC and summarized available loan programs: short-term disaster loans for immediate stabilization and long-term Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) with extended repayment terms. Erickson noted the SBA disaster loan application deadline of September 4 and said SBDC staff at the BRC are assisting clients to assemble documents and complete applications.
Staff said the authorization allows partners to use the BRC temporarily and that the board may return later with a standing policy to allow short-term partner occupancy between meetings. The board approved the authorization by voice vote with Director Lassiter moving and Dr. Rodriguez seconding.
