The City Council authorized the issuance and sale of a tax note to fund work on the south taxi lane at the San Angelo Regional Airport.
Tina Dierski, finance director, said council had previously approved the tax note concept at the July 15 meeting. She described the note as approximately $1.1 million, maturing on Aug. 15 (date as read in meeting), with roughly $300,000 in FAA participation and additional funding from the airport fund balance. Dierski told council the city will use existing capacity in the debt‑service fund and that the financing should not impact the tax rate.
Dierski reported bids returned the prior week and the winning bid was about 3.5% interest. Council asked project questions and moved to approve the ordinance; the item passed 7–0.
The south taxi lane project is described as a needed airport improvement; staff presence at the meeting included a project representative for additional project questions, though the council’s action at this meeting was limited to authorizing the note.
