The San Angelo Planning Commission opened its Feb. 9 meeting with a change in leadership after the long-serving chair announced this would be their final meeting. The chair praised staff and singled out Aaron Benoit for his work before opening nominations for the commission’s officers.
A motion to nominate Britney for chair passed by voice vote; commissioners announced the vote and congratulated her. The commission then nominated and elected Shane Meisz as vice chair after commissioners noted his prior volunteer experience on city committees and rezonings.
The leadership votes came at the start of what commissioners described as a fully scheduled agenda, and were followed by a short public-comment period and the approval of routine consent items, including minutes and a small replat. No formal objections were entered against the nominations during the meeting.
The new leadership will preside over the commission’s next regular meeting, scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, at City Hall’s East Mezzanine. The commission also noted that zoning cases heard at this meeting will go to San Angelo City Council on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. for final action.
