Speaker 7 said staff hope to present a draft redline to city council in March for feedback after initial committee discussions. "We are trying to make a smaller lot size, or different setbacks, especially in this infill area," Speaker 7 said, noting the change is intended to reduce the need for frequent variances.
Board members asked clarifying questions about rezoning mechanics and whether the changes would amount to spot zoning; staff said the intent is to create consistent residential zones so eligible properties could rezone instead of repeatedly seeking variances.
Staff indicated the matter will return to the board in the coming months for updates and will be taken to city council following committee work.
