Planning commission approves zoning change to expand Rockwall Community Playhouse

Applicant Jonathan Brown described the Playhouse as a community organization that has been on site since the mid‑1990s and said the expansion would double seating and provide a modernized facility for local productions. Brown said the team met neighbors in two meetings and adjusted the building design and setbacks in response.
Commissioners praised the outreach and agreed the revised elevations and added parking improved the site. Commissioner Hagman moved to approve; the motion passed 5‑0. The approved rezoning will go to City Council as the normal subsequent review step.
