Council confirms appointment, accepts two withdrawals and approves consent items

At its Jan. 20 meeting the Rockwall City Council handled several procedural and consent matters, including an appointment to the Planning & Zoning Commission, acceptance of case withdrawals and routine consent business.
The mayor moved to appoint Galen Hillard to the Planning & Zoning Commission; Mister Henson seconded and the appointment was approved 6–1, with Councilwoman Campbell recording the lone dissent. Council members clarified that the dissent was not personal and offered congratulations to the appointee.
The council also voted on a motion authorizing the city manager to finalize and execute a notice for property located on the southwest corner of David Crockett and East Ross Street; the motion passed unanimously. The consent agenda — which included renaming a portion of East Quail Road for the Hance family — passed unanimously.
Two zoning cases on the agenda were withdrawn at the applicants' requests (Z2025‑077 and Z2025‑079); the council voted unanimously to accept both withdrawals. The mayor adjourned the meeting at 6:58 p.m.
