Acting Finance Director Lola Ogbremi told the council that Asset ID 3525 — the message board located on Route 450 — was damaged beyond repair and that insurance recoveries are expected to cover approximately $37,900 after the city deductible; the city is requesting the additional appropriation from the general fund balance to cover the replacement cost.
Council members discussed the sign’s location relative to the state right‑of‑way and whether moving it out of the future median/right‑of‑way would require permits. Staff confirmed the message board sits in the future median strip within the state right‑of‑way and that landscaping or protective measures would be considered to reduce risk of future impacts.
The council voted to adopt the ordinance after no public comments were received. Staff said they are evaluating landscaping or other protective measures to reduce the chance of future collisions with that structure.
