David Kilburn, associate director of capital plans and projects, told the York County School Board on Feb. 9 that Tabb High's 95% drawings are expected March 3 and the division plans to go to bid in June with construction projected to begin in September. Kilburn said phasing the work to install the geothermal field first is necessary for the new footprint to be operational and to reduce the risk of change orders.
"We are expecting the 95% drawings on March 3," Kilburn said, and explained that reviewing the drawings carefully up front and bidding in the summer should help avoid later change orders even if start dates shift into the fall.
