Noble County commissioners voted to purchase two Ford F-350 pickups and associated body build-outs for the highway department.
Speaker 3 presented quotes: two government-priced F-350 trucks at about $63,615.25 each and build-out costs of roughly $13,100.51 and $14,005.51 for the two trucks. The trucks are intended to replace high-mileage units and to improve in-house capability for road reconstruction tasks, including retaining a grinder and sheepsfoot roller in county possession.
Speaker 7 moved to approve the purchase of two pickups from vendor Max Platt with body build-outs from W.A. Jones under Sourcewell pricing; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Speakers noted the purchases will be funded from the county's local railroad/streets budget (account 1169), which accepts gas-tax revenue but disallows payroll. Board members confirmed the purchases were budgeted for the year.
The highway department said keeping certain equipment in-house produces a favorable net return and gives greater flexibility for reconstruction work in the coming season.
