Resident urges town to fund TCTV, warns cuts will erode staff and volunteers

"TCTV is funded primarily and almost exclusively...by revenue coming from the cable provider, an amount that continues to shrink every year," Pacier said, telling the board that household changes in subscription habits reduce funding. He argued that personnel costs are not the place to cut: "If we have no pay, no benefits, no passion, we aren't gonna be able to hold on to our employees or our volunteers."
Pacier asked board members who have said TCTV needs funding to propose alternatives if they do not like current options, and he asked the board to consider the long-term effect of reduced compensation on the station’s operations.
The board did not take an immediate vote on TCTV funding during the meeting; it has multiple budget and personnel items on future agendas that could affect the cable enterprise fund.
