Hawkins Ash CPAs presented the Village of Weston2024 audited financial statements and issued an unmodified (clean) audit opinion, the auditor told trustees.
Auditor S5 reviewed key figures from the report: governmental activities net position of about $49,000,000 and business-type activities net position around $66,000,000. The general fund had an approximate $75,000 increase in fund balance to roughly $4,500,000; the debt service fund increased by about $278,000; capital improvements showed a roughly $6.6 million fund balance increase. The auditor also reviewed fund-specific results, proprietary fund cash-flow changes and a schedule of long-term obligations (notes payable, revenue bonds and related interest costs).
On capital assets and projects, the auditor reported construction-in-progress additions and retirements; on long-term obligations, S5 outlined outstanding notes payable and revenue bonds and the portion scheduled for payoff in the coming year.
Trustees asked clarifying questions; the auditor noted standard WRS presentation items (retirement-related liabilities) and confirmed no current audit exceptions. The board thanked Hawkins Ash for the presentation.
