Summary
The Weston Plan Commission voted Dec. 8 to rezone 5603 Business Highway 51 from Planned Development back to B‑2 (Highway Business) to allow modest Quick Trip remodels; staff said majority of the former Lee Bakken parcel will remain as green space and site plan work is expected after the new year.

The Weston Plan Commission on Dec. 8 approved a rezoning that returns 5603 Business Highway 51 to a B‑2 (Highway Business) zoning classification, enabling planned smaller remodels to accommodate a Quick Trip convenience store and minor site work. Staff told the commission the prior planned development approval for a larger redevelopment is not proceeding and that the applicant intends only modest remodeling and a small north parking expansion.
There were no public comments on the item; staff confirmed the majority of the adjacent Lee Bakken parcel will remain green space under current plans. Commissioners addressed site‑plan details and drainage, and staff said a more complete site plan should be submitted early next year.
A commissioner moved to approve the rezoning after commissioners answered required statutory determination questions (consistency with the comprehensive plan; maintenance of desired land‑use patterns). The motion passed by voice vote.
Next steps include submission of a site plan and coordination with staff on grading and drainage; construction was anticipated to begin in early 2026 pending plan submission and approvals.
