Weston planning staff wins commission support for public participation plan for 10-year comprehensive update

Planning staff presented the draft public participation plan for the Village of Weston’s 10-year update of Volumes 1 and 2 of the comprehensive plan and asked the commission to recommend the procedures to the Board of Trustees.
Staff said Wisconsin law requires communities to update their plans at least every 10 years and described outreach tools including a community survey, newsletter articles, social media, survey cards at elections, and steering-committee meetings that will include the planning commission and village board. Staff said the steering committee will meet periodically through the year and that the department hopes to complete the plan in March; staff also said consultant Mark Ruffers has been working with staff and that draft materials are already under review.
Commissioner Zagami moved that the commission recommend the Board adopt the public participation strategy and procedures (draft resolution 2026-005); Commissioner Mumper seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
