Suamico awards $90,501 access-control contract to Faith Technologies, adds 10% contingency

The Suamico Village Board voted Dec. 1 to award a contract to Faith Technologies to upgrade access-control hardware and supporting software at the municipal services center.

Director Schmitz told the board staff issued an RFP and received two proposals. Faith Technologies proposed a fiber option and submitted a base bid of $90,501; the village recommended a 10% contingency to cover unforeseen items, bringing the potential total to roughly $99,551.10. Schmitz said the fiber option was preferred for reliability over a wireless alternative.

Trustees asked about the timeline and other proposals; staff said Convergent submitted a higher proposal (about $135,000) and that the recommendation reflected price and the village's longstanding relationship with Faith. The board authorized funding to be split 50% from unassigned capital project funds, 25% from water funds and 25% from sewer funds.

Trustees approved the award by roll call, 6-0. Schmitz said Faith would begin work soon after the contract award and that the project includes adding several keypad entries and upgrading the current system to a more supported platform.
