The Suamico Village Board voted Jan. 5 to accept a $3,000 grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation to help purchase windscreens for the Idyllwild Park pickleball and tennis courts.
Director Lemke said the public has requested windscreens to reduce wind-related interference with play and increase court usability. "The village was awarded a grant of $3,000, courtesy of the Green Bay Packers Foundation," Lemke said, noting the total cost for perimeter windscreens is $4,700 and the additional $1,700 would come from the park's operational budget.
Trustee Andrews moved to approve Resolution 26002 authorizing acceptance of the grant; Trustee Romas seconded. The board voted 7-0 in favor by roll call.
During discussion, Director Lemke said the manufacturer guarantees roughly 10 years of service and the village could remove the screens in winter to reduce storm damage. The board authorized acceptance of the grant and use of park funds to cover the remaining cost.
