Superintendent Leticia Giuseppe briefed the Verona Board of Education on the district’s 2023–24 school performance reports, which she said were released March 31; she told the board she will provide a fuller review at the next meeting.
Giuseppe outlined the report’s categories (demographics; academic achievement in ELA, math and science; growth; college and career readiness; climate measures such as chronic absenteeism and discipline; staff experience and per-pupil expenditures) and said the district will track growth across grade bands. She flagged a data problem: “We got 0 on performing arts participation in the elementary schools because it wasn’t put into Genesis,” and said the county office was informed and that the district will add the missing data for future pulls.
Giuseppe reviewed the district’s upcoming testing calendar: Advanced Placement dates in May, the NJSLA schedule with HBW beginning the week of May 5, elementary testing the week of May 12 and high school testing the week of May 19, and a summer administration of the New Jersey graduation proficiency assessment in July. She said make-up windows and MAP testing schedules will follow district planning and that she will present growth comparisons at the next meeting.
Board members asked a brief scheduling question about a parent meeting regarding new schedules; Giuseppe said staff will provide the date.
