Subcommittee advances bill to create felony for supporting foreign terrorists

Representative Brent Cox presented House Bill 6 75 (LC481580 ERS), a bill to create a felony for those who support, abet or facilitate foreign terrorists through propaganda, information gathering, or funding that creates division in Georgia. "The purpose of this bill is basically to create a felony... to prosecute those who are supporting and abetting terrorists from other countries," Cox said.
Committee members asked procedural questions but no witnesses opposed. A motion to "do pass" was made and seconded; the panel approved the bill by voice vote and scheduled it for full committee next week. The chair closed the subcommittee after congratulating sponsors and noting the bills would be scheduled for the full committee.
