Wendy Samoe told the commission during public comment that she and neighbors are being woken by loud bass and early activity at a gym located at 140 17th Street. Samoe said the gym often leaves a door cracked for ventilation, producing a continual "boom, boom, boom" that she and other residents say has forced some families to relocate bedrooms away from the noise.
Samoe said the city previously did an interior noise measurement of her trailer but did not conduct outside noise sampling near the gymand asked the city to require improved insulation and circulation so the gym would not need to leave the door open. She asked for a record that the gym would be required to stop operating with the door cracked.
The commission acknowledged the comment and closed the public-comment period; staff did not offer an immediate enforcement action during the hearing. The complaint was entered into the public record for planning staff follow-up.
