Commissioner Kale Crane introduced the measure and Commissioner Michael Chandler asked directly, "What is, is this county gonna pay for that?" He was told by other commissioners that participants would be responsible for their portion of the premium. After discussion, the commission approved the authorization on roll call; the transcript records Michael Chandler as the sole no vote.
Commissioners said the program would be implemented based on amounts commissioners draw and that further administrative details would be worked out. The commission did not adopt enrollment mechanics or contribution splits at the meeting; the board directed staff to return details for implementation and enrollment.
