Board reappoints enforcement advisor, appoints qualifications member; approves minutes with one abstention
Summary
The board reappointed Ben C. Towne to the Enforcement Advisory Committee, appointed Michael L. Williams to the Qualifications Committee and approved meeting and committee minutes (Member Zelensky abstained on minutes votes).
At its Jan. 22 meeting the California Board of Accountancy approved a set of personnel and procedural actions.
Vice President Doug Aguilera moved to reappoint Ben C. Towne, CPA, to the Enforcement Advisory Committee through Jan. 31, 2028; the motion was seconded and carried on a roll-call vote. Later, Aguilera moved to appoint Michael L. Williams, CPA, to the Qualifications Committee through Jan. 31, 2028; members confirmed Mr. Williams holds a California license and the motion carried.
The board also moved to adopt the Nov. 2025 meeting minutes and to accept committee minutes for the intervening period. The roll-call for the minutes votes recorded an abstention by newly seated Member Abigail Zelensky; the motions otherwise carried. No substantive policy changes were made in these procedural approvals.
Next steps: The appointed members will begin service on their respective committees and staff will note the minutes approvals in the official record.
