Commissioners also authorized the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department to pursue training equipment through the Tennessee Corrections Institute under resolution 1022-26B, a 100% grant-funded application for $15,000.
Other approvals included an insurance-recovery entry for a 2017 Ford Taurus ($6,563.08) under resolution 1022-26C, the acceptance of $262 in proceeds from sale of military equipment for the sheriff’s department (1022-26D), and a recorded grant rollforward for the sheriff’s department of $16,057.61 tied to SRO (school resource officer) accounting rules (1022-26E). The commission also adopted the previously approved fatality reduction grant for $57,772 (1022-26F) and a development department amendment to accept a used-automotive-fluid recycling grant of $35,500 to buy an oil collection tank, heater and canopy (1022-26G).
Commissioners moved the routine quarterly and trustee reports and approved the director of finance’s resolution (102204) so the finance items could be entered into the fiscal-year 24-25 budgets. Several commissioners praised staff for preparing the reports and documents in advance.
The meeting record shows the commission handled these items by motion and roll-call votes; recorded roll calls included multiple ‘aye’ votes and the resolutions were carried as put to the commission. No new statutes or legal authorities were cited during the approvals.
The meeting concluded with a procedural vote to change the commission’s regular meeting time to 5:00 p.m.; that motion was made, seconded and recorded for the public record.
