Resident urges correction to Murray-Holladay Road mapping; commission agrees to review

Ron Hilton, a Holladay resident, addressed the Planning Commission during the public hearing on Sept. 30 and handed commissioners an enlarged packet of maps. Hilton said a community petition from about five years ago sought a low-density designation for an area surrounding Holiday Village, but the draft future land-use map still shows that area as medium density.
"About 5 years ago ... the community mounted a petition to change the designation ... so that the low density would ... be mostly low density. So that change isn't reflected here," Hilton said while pointing to a boxed area on his map.
Hilton also flagged a discrepancy on the transportation map: the draft labels Murray-Holladay Road as a 66-foot collector (a green area on his handout), but he said the right-of-way in the field has already been reduced in places to about 55 feet and narrows to roughly 42 feet farther east.
"If you look inside that little square, it's green, and that's, collector. Right? And that's really not consistent either with the existing right of way ... It shows it as 66 feet ... it's bigger than it actually is ... So I think that also needs to change to reflect the reality and the future direction," Hilton said.
Consultants acknowledged the comment and invited further documentation. Commissioners agreed the mapping and right-of-way depiction should be re-checked and asked staff and consultants to incorporate corrections or explanations in the follow-up materials. The commission then voted to continue review of the draft plan and adjourned the meeting while keeping the public hearing open for additional comments.
