The Holiday City Council voted on July 7 to approve an interlocal agreement with the Central Wasatch Commission (CWC) and to appoint local representation to the commission.
Council discussion focused on regional pressure on the canyons — including winter-season traffic and water-resource issues — and the value of having a seat at the table. One council member summarized the trade-off as a “minor budget impact, but relative to the value of the seat at that table, I think, certainly worth it.”
By recorded voice vote the council approved Resolution 2025-13 authorizing participation in the CWC; council members recorded affirmative votes (Durham, Fotheringham, Quinn, Gray and the chair). The council then approved Resolution 2025-14 appointing Council member Gray to the CWC board on Holiday’s behalf. The council also moved to appoint Emily to serve in a citizen/member role on the commission; staff noted that Emily had expressed willingness and passion to serve.
Why it matters: The CWC is a regional body addressing canyon access, recreation management, water resources and related transportation impacts that affect Holiday residents who use the canyons for recreation and commuting. Council members told colleagues they were comfortable funding a modest budget line for representation.
What’s next: Council and staff will finalize interlocal paperwork and the appointed members will begin attending CWC meetings and reporting back to the council. Any budget items associated with the interlocal were discussed as modest and accounted for in the council’s budget deliberations.
