Oakland staff reports 2026 qualifying results and ballot items; two seats uncontested

Town staff told commissioners that the qualifying period for the 2026 general election closed and provided a list of qualifiers: Chris Keller qualified unopposed for Seat 1 (four-year term) and Umeko Motley qualified unopposed for Seat 3 (two-year term); unopposed candidates will not appear on the ballot. Seat 4 will be contested by Anne Fulton and Joseph McMullen and therefore will appear on the ballot. Staff also said six charter amendments will be on the ballot and directed residents to the town website under public notices for amendment language and additional information.
Staff reminded voters that vote-by-mail ballots from the federal general election cycle have expired and that residents who want to vote by mail must submit a new request at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections website; the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot was cited as Feb. 26.
Commissioners were asked to direct any questions about amendments to the town office; staff offered assistance for constituents seeking ballot information.
