Town outlines timeline for Catherine Ross Road opening and sewer project

Public works staff briefed the Town of Oakland Commission on Jan. 13 about road and sewer work that will affect local travel and infrastructure timelines.
Staff reported ongoing survey work along the Avenue and side streets to support sewer design and said that construction of the sewer infrastructure is not expected to begin earlier than January 2027. Regarding Catherine Ross Road, staff said the Johns Lake outfall covers are installed and that work is advancing; current estimates place the opening of the new road around April 1, 2026. "Currently, I mean, current estimates place the opening of the new road around 04/01/2026," public works staff said.
The new roadway will provide another route from Oakland Avenue to State Road 50 and is intended to improve connectivity while sewer design and later construction progress. Staff emphasized that the sewer construction timeline is contingent on design completion, permitting and funding and that the January 2027 date is an earliest estimate.
No final construction contract was approved at the meeting; the update was informational and intended to keep the commission and public informed of anticipated schedules.
