Town gives updates on trail, septic-to-sewer design and Catherine Ross Road timing

Town public-works staff updated the commission on infrastructure projects at the Jan. 13 meeting, including trail surveys, sewer design work and ongoing road construction.
Survey work for the Sat La Trail began and will continue for several days; when completed, the project will provide a pedestrian path linking neighborhoods, passing three Oakland cemeteries, and connecting to the Arts & Heritage Building and West Orange Trail. Staff also reported ongoing survey work along Bridal Avenue and side streets to support design of a future septic-to-sewer project; construction for that project is not expected to begin before January 2027.
Work on Catherine Ross Road is progressing after Johns Lake outfall culvert installation. Staff said current estimates place the road opening around April 1, 2026; the new roadway will provide an additional route from Oakland Avenue to State Road 50.
Next steps: Staff will continue survey and design work and return to the commission with construction schedules and funding details as projects move toward procurement and implementation.
