Superintendent: budget delayed pending state tax-incentive, highlights district performance and community events

Mr. Palazzo encouraged parents to support students during NJSLA testing and highlighted the release of district performance reports by the New Jersey Department of Education; he explained that the reports (searchable by district on the NJDOE site) provide test scores, student growth data, chronic absenteeism figures and other information the district uses to guide program decisions. He thanked the New Milford Education Foundation for funding work to repair and repaint school pillars, describing the project as substantial (removal of rotten wood and replacement prior to painting).
The superintendent also summarized community and student activities: a county job fair with district participation, Gibbs International Night Out celebrating cultural diversity, success in mock trial and HOSA competitions with students advancing to regional and national events, theater award nominations, and student recognitions including a district alum honored at Ramapo College.
