Board approves routine committee recommendations, moves to closed session

The New Milford Board of Education approved a slate of routine committee recommendations and then moved into executive session to discuss personnel.
Having received the superintendent’s recommendations, the board approved business-affairs items BA 24-25.76, .77 and .78 by voice vote. The board also approved educational programs and curriculum items (C24-25.340, .350, .36), a cluster of personnel items (P24-25.1040–108), finance and facilities items (F24.213–F24.238) and athletics/co-curricular item AC24-25.17. Motions were made, seconded, and carried by voice votes with members answering “Aye.”
During the personnel vote the board chair called for a roll response; when asked several board members verbally recorded their support (Mister Alvaro/Albro, Miss Calvaro/Calvaro, Miss Carpenter, Mister Lombardi, Vice President Dunne and President Gomez responded “Yes”). The board announced that no further action would be taken immediately and later moved into executive session for a personnel matter under the Open Public Meetings Act. The board stated the minutes of the executive session will be made available when confidentiality no longer exists.
No members of the public spoke during either of the two public-comment periods; both were opened and closed by motion and voice vote. The meeting’s procedural actions (approvals and the motion to enter executive session) were routine in form and reflected unanimous or near-unanimous voice support where recorded.
The board also noted earlier in the meeting that final budget approval is delayed pending a pending state tax-incentive decision (see superintendent report).
