Fremont board approves resignations, appointments and two MOUs with teachers

The Fremont City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved a package of routine personnel and contract items during its meeting, including resignations, new hires, supplemental contracts and two memoranda of understanding with the teachers' union.

Superintendent presented a list of community donations and asked the board to approve them; the motion passed after a roll-call vote. The board then approved resignations from longtime employees, naming Phil Moran, Lori Nossman, Maria Assasi and Sandy Harmon among those stepping down. The superintendent asked the trustees to approve certified appointments (including Lydia Bacon, Taylor Sisson and Wendy Sewell), supplemental contracts and additional special-event workers for upcoming fall programs; the personnel package (items 2–8) was approved unanimously.

The board reviewed two separate MOUs with the teachers' union (items 9 and 10). Both agreements were accompanied by a memo explaining terms; motions to approve each MOU were moved and seconded and carried on unanimous roll-call votes.

Other routine approvals included item 11 (moved and approved) and the board’s motion to approve appropriations and the fiscal forecast (items 12 and 13), which the trustees passed together by roll call. No trustee opposed or abstained on the recorded votes during the meeting.

The superintendent thanked community donors and recognized staff retiring after long service. Several trustees also used board communications to promote Homecoming Week events and to recognize student athletes and band accomplishments.

The board adjourned after approving the consent and business items.
