Board approves minor edits to member procedure manual; final sunset report deferred to December

The Board of Chiropractic Examiners on Nov. 7 approved minor edits to the board member procedure manual so an updated version can be included with the board’s sunset review materials, but deferred final approval of the full sunset report to a short meeting planned for Dec. 9 or Dec. 10.

Miss Walker told the board that much of the sunset report would be tabled for a future meeting and that one required attachment is the board member procedure manual, which staff updated with a few minor edits to reflect current practice. "Most notably... the board chair has been not only selecting the members to serve on each committee, but also appointing the chair of each committee," she said, and staff adjusted the manual to reflect that practice.

Board members debated whether to accept the minor, content‑neutral edits now so the board could meet sunset filing timelines, or to pursue a more comprehensive tone and formatting update later. Doctor Adams said he was "amenable" to approving the edits now to ease staff preparation for sunset. Others agreed the edits were largely wordsmithing and could be refined after the sunset materials are submitted.

The board moved and approved a motion to adopt the edits presented in the meeting materials for inclusion with the sunset report and asked staff to return with any broader revisions in 2026 if needed. Staff said they will follow up by email to firm up Dec. meeting logistics for completing the final report.

The motion to adopt the edits passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded as yes.
