Miss Mott presented the proposed 2026–27 academic calendar, reporting a process involving the district DEIC committee, cabinet review and adjustments for UIL realignment. The board approved the calendar unanimously; notable calendar details included an early homecoming on Sept. 18 (early release day), a mini fall break in October (two days), designated teacher work and professional‑learning days, and two state‑required bad‑weather days in April. The presenter said the calendar includes about 6.8 built‑in days of minutes above the state minimum to accommodate cancellations.
Trustees also called the election for trustee places 1 and 2 and approved Marvin Biomedical Academy as an election‑day polling location; the filing deadline for candidates was announced as Friday at 5 p.m. The board noted the Administration Building will not be an early‑voting site this year due to changes requiring early‑vote sites to also be election‑day sites.
On inclement weather, administration recommended and trustees adopted a resolution to pay district staff during districtwide inclement‑weather closure days activated by the superintendent under board policy EB (local); presenters said the payment does not negatively affect the operating budget because the contract workdays are already accounted for. The board also approved the consent agenda (items A–Z) by unanimous voice vote.
