After the vote, Williams — introduced by administration — spoke to the board and audience, saying he was "humbled for the opportunity" and would "lead to the best of my God‑given ability." Williams emphasized supporting student‑athletes both academically and athletically, stressing discipline and the program motto: "I will not allow you to fail." He said the program’s goal is to "bring a state championship to Waxahachie," clarifying he would not promise one but intends to work toward that aim.
The board recessed briefly after the remarks for photographs and recognition.
