Parent presses Coweta BOE on bus-tracking app; superintendent says tablets have been installed on first nine buses

During public comment on Nov. 11, parent Amanda Tucker asked whether the district would implement a real-time bus-tracking app such as Here Comes the Bus to reduce long waits and missed alerts for families.
Tucker told the board that parents have experienced late buses with no notice and that, on one occasion, a child waiting at a stop became so cold the parent had to leave work to check on the child. "Several nearby districts...are already using the Here Comes the Bus app," she said, and asked for the district’s current status on adopting the system.
Superintendent Doctor Horton responded: "I got great news. The tablets were installed on the first 9 buses last week. So it's gonna take a little while to get 300 buses to get the tablets all installed, but we are well on our way." He said the district still has work ahead to complete a full rollout and did not provide a precise completion date at the meeting.
The board did not take formal action at the meeting; transportation rollout and parent notification remain operational priorities for district staff.
