Coweta County Board of Education approves agenda, bus purchases, policy and facility closeout in unanimous votes

At its Dec. 9 meeting the Coweta County Board of Education approved the agenda and a slate of actions by unanimous vote including bus purchases, kitchen equipment bids, a policy to comply with the Distraction Free Education Act, and a resolution certifying completion of Newnan High School work.
The Coweta County Board of Education voted on a series of routine and capital items during its Dec. 9, 2025 meeting, approving each by voice vote, 7–0.
Approved items included the meeting agenda and recognitions, appointment of Buzz Glover as the district’s GSBA legislative liaison for the 2026 session, and a qualifying fee notice and resolution for the 2026 school board elections that sets the qualifying fee at $342 (3% of the annual salary) with qualifying scheduled March 2–6, 2026.
Capital and procurement approvals included a request from the director of transportation for four 48‑passenger IC International buses with wheelchair lifts at $159,000 each and ten 83‑passenger IC International buses at $153,000 each. The superintendent stated the purchase will be paid from state pupil transportation funds ($176,220) and East Bloss funds (stated in transcript as $1,989,780); the board approved the purchase, 7–0.
The board also approved food service equipment bids for serving lines, tilt skillets and seven combi ovens (bids from Culinary Depot and Douglas Equipment) to replace equipment more than 20 years old. The superintendent recommended the equipment be paid from East Bloss funds and state contract pricing was noted.
Policy action included approval of board policy JCDAF to comply with the Distraction Free Education Act; the superintendent said the policy applies K–8 and will take effect July 1, 2026. The board adopted a resolution certifying completion of accounts for the Newnan High School academic building (state project 23‑638‑0001).
All recorded motions carried by voice vote and the public record shows no roll‑call votes; each listed motion was recorded in the meeting transcript as passing 7–0 where the chair called for the vote.
