Coweta County school board approves leadership slate, routine business and multiple spending items

The board voted 7–0 to elect Bud "Buzz" Glover as chairman, Rob Dubose as vice chairman and Larry Robertson as treasurer after a member nominated the slate and nominations were closed by motion. The board also approved the Dec. 9, 2025 minutes.
Superintendent Dr. Horton recommended adoption of the newly revised 12th edition of Robert's Rules of Order for 2026; the board approved the recommendation 7–0. The board also approved continued board-member attendance at required Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) training—training the board said may be taken in person or online—and noted that the training is required by state law.
On facilities and state reporting, the board approved a cleanup resolution to amend the FY 2022 State Capital Outlay application for Arnold Middle School and Thomas Crossroads Elementary. The superintendent said the amendment corrects building numbers and removes work items that do not match the district inventory (for example, removing a reference to a nonexistent Building 4040 and reassigning completed work to Building 4020). The resolution passed 7–0.
On procurement, the board approved an Action Plumbing Company bid totaling $67,760 to remove and replace four 100‑gallon natural gas kitchen hot water heaters at Northgate High School, White Oak Elementary, Poplar Road Elementary and Madras Middle School. The superintendent said the district typically runs two heaters per kitchen to maintain safety standards; the board approved the contract 7–0. The motion record cited a per‑site cost of $16,940.
The board also approved a field trip request for the East Coweta High School rifle team to attend the U.S. Marine Corps National Marksmanship Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, Feb. 4–8, 2026; presenters said students will miss three days of school and there will be no cost to the school system. That motion passed 7–0.
The public portion of the meeting closed after a motion, second and unanimous vote to enter executive session to discuss personnel, real estate and potential litigation.
