Albany commission approves one rezoning, denies another and postpones a third

On Nov. 25 the commission denied rezoning for 905 South Madison (R-3 to C-1), approved rezoning of 722 11th Avenue (CR to C5) for a non-public-facing healthcare office and postponed consideration of a convenience-store rezoning at 210–216 Marie/Adeline to January for additional information.
The Albany City Commission handled multiple land-use items at its Nov. 25 meeting, approving one rezoning, denying another, and continuing a third.
Zoning case 25O54 (905 South Madison) — the commission voted to deny a request to rezone the property from R‑3 to C‑1. Commissioners cited public concerns heard during the public hearing about site conditions — including complaints about a nearby dumpster, odors and traffic — and acted on a motion to deny.
Zoning case 25055 (722 11th Avenue) — the commission approved rezoning the parcel from CR to C5 to allow a business office for a health‑care system; the ordinance was passed and the second reading waived.
A rezoning request for 210–216 Marie/Adeline (CR to C2) for a proposed convenience store was continued to January. Commissioners asked for a detailed site plan and further information on ingress and egress, alley impacts and proximity to new apartment construction before making a decision.
Next steps: staff will request and circulate detailed site plans for the Marie/Adeline application and return the item to the commission in the January cycle.
