The Albany City Commission on Nov. 25 authorized the city manager to negotiate a draft contract with VIP Express to operate a scheduled shuttle service from the Albany Transportation Center to Atlanta.
"We're seeking approval from this body to authorize the city manager to negotiate a contract with VIP Express to operate out of the Albany Transportation Center," said the presenting staff member. Staff said VIP Express intends to operate Monday through Saturday and that the draft agreement will address usage fees (utilities, office space and parking) and return to the commission for formal approval.
Commissioners asked about contract terms and revenue; staff said the body would review any proposed contract before it becomes effective. The motion to authorize negotiation carried by roll call.
Next steps: staff will work with VIP Express to prepare a draft agreement and return to the commission for consideration.
