Board approves clean FY2025 audit, meeting calendar and employment report after closed session

The New Berlin School District Board voted on Feb. 9 to approve its financial statement and single audit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, after a presentation from Baker Tilly. Paul Franz, principal with Baker Tilly in Milwaukee, told the board the district received an unmodified opinion—commonly described as a “clean bill of health”—on both the financial statements and the federal single audit for grant compliance.

Franz said the district’s general fund balance was about 32% as of 06/30/2025 and that auditors found no material misstatements or reportable findings in the single audit. "The district received an unmodified opinion, also known as a clean bill of health," he said.

Administration recommended approval of the audit and the board moved and approved the FY2025 financial statement audit by voice/hand vote with all members present voting in favor.

The board also approved the 2026–27 board meeting calendar (regular meetings generally the second and fourth Mondays at 7:00 p.m.) and approved an employment services report that was discussed in closed session under Wis. Stat. section 19.85(1)(c),(e) and (f). The board had recessed to closed session earlier in the evening to consider approval of closed minutes and personnel performance and compensation matters; recorded roll‑call votes to enter closed session were affirmative from all members present.

Crucial details: Baker Tilly reported no audit findings and strong internal cooperation during the audit process; administration and the board thanked staff and auditors for their work. The motion to approve the audit, the calendar and the employment services report passed by unanimous voice/hand vote among members present.
