The Troy Streets and Sidewalks Committee on Feb. 9 authorized staff to bid and award the 2026 local road paving program in an amount up to $1,500,000.
Unidentified Speaker described the program as the city’s annual paving effort, listing 28 road sections totaling a little over 12 lane miles and noting the list covers streets in four of the city’s five wards. “On the second page have a chart of, 28 road sections, a little over 12 lane miles, up to $1,500,000, that, we would anticipate, spending,” he said.
He said the list of streets was developed using the city’s condition-rating system and explained that if bids mean the city cannot complete all 28 sections, staff will reduce the scope "from the bottom up," cutting lower-rated sections first. He reiterated this request is part of the city’s routine annual program and not emergency legislation.
Moderator invited public comment; none was offered. The Moderator noted the committee members present were unanimous in agreeing to move forward with the staff recommendation to bid and award the program.
Next steps: staff will proceed with bidding and plan to award contracts consistent with available funding and the city’s priority list; actual sections included will depend on bid results.
