Megan James, marketing manager for Union, told the Rawlins City Council on Jan. 6 that the company's recent Carbon County launch "adds almost 8,000 square miles to our network," bringing improved data and voice coverage supported by three carriers and local customer service.
"It's our updated network," James said, adding that the company has added live web chat, a local 800 number and a local support team based in Saratoga or Mountain View. She told council members Union intends to support community events, run bill‑comparison promotions and explore reopening a local storefront in Rollins through pop‑ups while planning a permanent return.
Council members asked whether a storefront would return; James said the company owns a building in town and that reopening is in the plans. She described community outreach and recent local events, and said local hires will support customers in the area.
The presentation highlighted economic impacts the company believes result from buying local services: James said an estimated $70.80 of every $100 spent with a local company stays in the community and emphasized the company's intention to participate in downtown events.
The presentation did not prompt formal council action at the meeting, but council members thanked James and encouraged staff to follow up on potential partnerships between the company and the city.
