Diane Heath was elected president of the Cecil County Board of Education at the board’s Dec. 10 annual organization meeting; Tierney Davis was elected vice president.
The superintendent, Doctor Lawson, served as temporary chair to oversee nominations and a recorded roll-call vote for the presidency, as required by statute. Diane Heath was nominated and the roll call returned ayes, after which President Heath took over administration of the meeting.
The election of the vice president followed immediately. President Heath opened nominations and Tierney Davis was nominated; Miss Olsen conducted the roll call and the motion carried.
Superintendent Lawson praised Heath’s leadership at several points during the meeting, saying he appreciated “your strength and, your leadership” and noting the board’s support for district leadership. Both officer elections were concluded without further contest and the board proceeded to its regular agenda.
The board then moved to routine business, including adoption of the meeting agenda and the consent agenda, each of which passed without removal of items.
