Cameron Parish staff report power-restoration progress, hazard plan and several procedural items

A parish staff presenter identified as Beau briefed the meeting on infrastructure and administrative items. On electrical work in the Jeff Davis area, he said crews have removed temporary generators at multiple sites and gave specific near-term switch-over dates: "We should be getting off of the generators, November 12 at Fulton and then November 19 at Johnson Bayou," the presenter said. He reported transmission-line work on the east side of the ship channel is complete and that remaining distribution taps and two substations (Manchester and Stirlie) still require outages; full work on the west side is expected in the months ahead, with the presenter estimating: "We anticipate probably being done with everything probably by about June of next year."
Staff also flagged a health-unit elevation proposal that will appear at the voting meeting as agenda item 22; staff said the project is "funded at 100%" and that contractor names will be read at the voting meeting. On the hazard mitigation plan, staff emphasized that a five-year update is required for eligibility for federal dollars; a resolution is needed to submit the plan to FEMA by the January deadline.
Other procedural items mentioned included a requested time-extension for the Mermentau Basin Innovation Relief Project Element 3 channel improvements (a 90-day change order request tied to DOTD overlay schedule) and the nearing closeout of a buyout/demo program for six homes. Staff noted two forthcoming board vacancies (a library board resignation and a recreation-board vacancy due to a death) and said those appointments will be vetted and scheduled.
At the end of the agenda meeting a motion by "mister Sonny," seconded by "mister Sam," approved the two add-ons (appointments) by voice vote and the chair declared the motion carried. The meeting then adjourned.
