State allocations for ferry, roads and community center highlighted at jury meeting

David Cook (PECAR) told the jury the parish had obtained $1.5 million for parishwide road work, $4.1 million allocated for the Cameron ferry, and $150,000 for a community center project. He said the appropriate capital-expenditure authorization (CEA) paperwork should be available from the state in the coming weeks and that staff would coordinate drawdown procedures with the treasurer’s office.
Jurors asked that staff be prepared to commit the required 25% local match on larger projects when necessary and to work with local offices to schedule project execution. The representative encouraged jurors to remain engaged with delegation staff in Baton Rouge and to participate in legislative outreach when necessary to refine boundaries or project language.
