Stevens County receives clean audit; board approves TriMin support agreement

County auditor Stephanie presented the audit reporting, noting that the county exceeded the $750,000 single-audit threshold and that single-audit work covered ARPA funds. She told the board the county received a clean audit and reviewed the required supplemental information and notes.

Stephanie reported the county’s 2023 net position at $52,613,004.92, a year-over-year increase of approximately $3.5 million. Total 2023 revenues were $25,989,439 and expenditures were $22,422,028. She walked commissioners through fund balances and the reasons behind changes: the general fund ended with $5,920,504; road and bridge had $3,014,083; human services $5,934,563; the ditch fund increase was largely attributable to about $1.8 million in bond proceeds.

The board also considered an agreement between the Minnesota Counties Computer Cooperative and TriMin (TriMin provides financial software; CVT provides support). Staff noted fee updates for support in 2025–2027 and asked for a motion; the board approved the agreement by voice vote.

Auditor offered to answer additional questions and invited commissioners to meet with her for details beyond the high-level overview.
