RDC approves temporary and permanent easements for NIPSCO near 'You Are Beautiful' site

The Michigan City Redevelopment Commission voted Feb. 9 to grant permanent and temporary easements to NIPSCO on commission-owned land near the planned 'You Are Beautiful' sign and trailhead.
Skyler York described the parcel as a horseshoe-shaped property adjacent to a cooling tower area; the permanent easement will allow placement of underground infrastructure, and the temporary easement will provide a laydown yard while NIPSCO completes work. York said the area will be restored and planted after completion. Trammell Rags confirmed the easement documents were in proper legal order.
Commissioners approved the easements by roll call (Clarence, Bill, Tracy and Sherry Wilson voting aye). York said the location is unlikely to be repurposed given zoning and right-of-way constraints and that the easement could accommodate the planned trailhead.
