Board approves two administrative appointments to equity and curriculum leadership

The board unanimously approved two administrative appointments announced by Superintendent Dr. Taylor. The first appointment named Keith Sutton as director of the Department of Systemwide Equity and the Division of Equity and Organizational Development; the superintendent summarized Sutton’s years of experience in educational policy and advocacy. The second appointment elevated Dr. Tamara Hewlett to director of Curriculum Development and Instruction in the Division of Teaching and Learning; staff noted Dr. Hewlett’s 22 years with Montgomery County Public Schools and prior roles including teacher, curriculum specialist and acting director.

Both appointments were moved and seconded on the floor and approved with a unanimous voice/hand vote. The superintendent thanked the candidates and recognized their families and colleagues in the room.
