The Story County Board of Supervisors approved Resolution 26.48 on Feb. 10, granting an easement to the Iowa Regional Utilities Association so a water service line can be bored under the Prairie Rail Trail to serve a single‑family residence south of E 18.
Mike Cox introduced the easement request and said the installation will be bored beneath the trail to avoid surface impacts. The board opened and closed the public hearing with no public comment and approved the resolution following a motion and second; recorded ayes were cast and the resolution passed.
County staff said the easement was a routine course of business to allow necessary utility access and that there would be no trail impacts from the boring method described.
